Yarn-along: felting and fun
~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~ Ginny at small things
Lots of reading and knitting going on around here lately!
See that bit of knitting in the picture? That would be a pair of unfelted wool slipper/boots I just finished yesterday. Knit with Reynolds LiteLopi (the foot is knit with a lovely charcoal grey and the leg is teal-green, blue, fuschia and yellow) on size 8s, these knit up relatively quickly! Unfelted, the boot measures 12 inches for the foot, 10 inches for the leg and 17 inches around. Come back next week and I’ll have it felted, with the slipper soles, and we’ll see how much it shrank! And yes, I’ll have a pattern available for this original design (just in time for y’all to make them as Christmas gifts … or for yourself; these are for me!). I’ve also been busy knitting shop models for Dog House Yarns … including a few original designs … and am getting ready to start on a Christmas project for the shop; have I mentioned working at DHY is my DREAM JOB??????
On the reading table: lots of books being read for review including one I just finished last night titled Lonestar Angel … which was a great, chick-lit read. I’ve also got Patron Saints by Craughwell to read/review (just in time for All Saints Day!) and I’m reading Anne Bartlett’s Knitting: A Novel just for fun. Bartlett’s writing is excellet with lots of knitting references.
With the kids, we just finished My Brother, My Enemy — historical fiction about the Bacon Rebellion 100 years before the American Revolution. Seems those Virginians have never liked being told what to do (hmmm … could be why I like living here so much!). With Kindle in hand, we just started a new read-aloud yesterday: Brian Jacques’ The Bellmaker. Redwall books are always such fun as read-alouds … altho they do make us hungry with all the references to banquets and meals. I love read-alouds on the Kindle — I can change the size of the font so I don’t need to wear my reading glasses — how cool is that???? Also, I can get audiobooks on there so I can knit and “read aloud” at the same time ….
So what are you reading and knitting? Come play with us over at Ginny’s ….
