The Brigid Collection: June’s design, FINALLY!

The Brigid Collection

Wow … can I just say that trying to get a completed design for June’s installment of the Brigid Collection was a tad tough … the first design, a yoke-lace, cap sleeve beauty in a cotton/acrylic yarn was an EPIC FAILURE. On Father’s Day, I had to rip TWO-THIRDS of it back (and I had BO and tucked in all ends the night before) to rework. YUCK!

June installment of The Brigid Collection: Sorcha’s Shawl

But never fear, I had a brain wave whilst ripping and created a whole new design — thanks to a road-trip to my first TNNA (in Columbus, OH), I was able to get Sorcha’s Shawl knit, written and posted (and with three days to spare in the month!).

This poncho is a really fun knit — done in worsted-weight on #10s, the knitting is fast and furious and there’s always something new to keep you interested. Starting at the top, you’ll knit a bit, increase a bit, work the Trinity Eyelets, increase a bit more, work the Cables and Eyelets Rib, increase a bit more and finish with the Radiant Beams Lace.

See … always something going on.

I’ve knit the sample with Plymouth’s Kudo … a gorgeous yarn comprised of cotton, rayon and silk … but I could have made a glorious poncho using a worsted wool or wool-blend! You need about 580 yards of worsted to complete the poncho as shown … altho I’m thinking I’m going to do up a shorter version which will make the yardage more like 400 yards.

This design is available in my Ravelry shop … or on my Craftsy page … for immediate download.

Thanks for patiently waiting for my latest design in The Brigid Collection. The upside is that I’m just about done with the July design, so you’ll see that a bit earlier than usual …
