Yarn-along: a summer top and summer work
~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! I have placed this picture in this post at a large setting so that you can see the gorgeous colors of the top I’m making for Kit. It’s a perfect summer top — made from Plymouth’s Kudo (a wonderful blend of 55% cotton, 40% rayon and 5% silk) in Kit’s colors. The sleevless-top is first knit sideways and then the front is added (a knitted-in mitered shaping that makes for a natural v-neck shaping) … so when you’re done with the front, you’re done except for seaming the sides! Cool, huh? And since Kit is tall and slender, the vertical striping will be especially attractive. Can’t wait to finish it!
As far as books … we’ve started Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, a book we’ve never read before (how did I miss THAT classic?) but thanks to the Read Aloud Book Along (a read-aloud a month club!) I’ve opted for this as our June read-aloud. It’s a great story (and much better than the movie!). I’m still planning the Office 2010 summer-course for my kids and getting ready to jump into being an iPad-owner … exciting stuff (especially if you’re a tad geeky!).
BTW, I finished the sweater I was working on last week — Chiara Mia went live on Monday afternoon and so far, it’s being well-received on Ravelry and Craftsy. I love the way it fits and flows … and it’s such a practical garment for year-round wear knit in Yarns of Italy’s Innamorata DK (altho a cotton dk would also be lovely)!Won’t you come yarn-along with us over at Ginny’s ….
