Kit’s 13th Birthday …. with an Anne of Green Gables theme …

Kit turns 13!
[BTW, the 8 books are available in a set or you can download most of them for $.99 for your Kindle .. a couple are still under copyright.]
So … Miss Kit invited five (the sixth couldn’t come) to come and partake of birthday celebrations using Anne as her theme.
We of course made Raspberry Cordial (but this was the straight kind!) … cucumber sandwiches … biscuits … egg salad … and other goodies including a lovely chocolate cake (the girls, being teens, though, actually left some for the boys). Many of the recipes we made (well, Kit actually made most of the comestibles) came from the Anne of Green Gables Cookbook, OOP, but worth the hunt for a used copy.
We opted for baskets instead of goodie bags — the plain baskets can be decorated later by the girls for Easter or whatever, but for the party held all their crafty goodies which held a bit of an Anne theme:

crafty goodie baskets (and there’s some chocolate in there, too)

painting of birdhouses

birdhouses drying while the luncheon was served

rubber-stamping, stickers, glitter glue to create greeting cards

small journals and rainbow/scratch bookmarks to record all their teen dreams
Overall, the party was a grand success! We finished up with a hilarious game of Apples to Apples … which is a game I think Anne Shirley would have found supremely entertaining.
Happiest of birthdays, dear Kit … and thanks for letting me share the crafting and cooking and celebrating with your friends (we exiled the boys and dad to the movies!).
