Yarn-along: a quick glimpse at some projects

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~ Ginny at small things

Yarn-along — August 14, 2013

Good morning! I’m a tad late posting my yarn-along this morning as I’m hopping-busy: finishing up house projects before dh goes back to school next week (and before our exchange student from China comes) including refinishing our dining room table, sealing some benches we bought, and running to Lowes/HomeDepot/Wal-mart for bits and bobs … hosting Kotch (and her roommate) who came up yesterday to take her driving test (and passed!) preparatory to moving back to Virginia and a great stop-gap job in Alexandria! …getting the kids’ field trips planned and scheduled for the fall … organizing my knitting-teaching schedule (which includes a weekend in Berryville and another cashmere workshop) … and generally, being quite busy.

I did finish the doll I showed you last week …. Mollie, My First Dollie is available on Ravelry and Craftsy … I think she came out real cute and can’t wait to give her to someone special …

The bit of knitting in the picture is a new shawl design that I’m working on … I’m using two shades of Hazel Knits hand-dyed yarn: Splish Splash is a tonal turquoisy-blue while the other, Federal, carries a blue very close to the turquoise as well as burgundy, khaki and a few other bits ….

And the “Knitting Calendar” was a big surprise that I rec’d yesterday. I had a design in last year’s calendar and didn’t know they were going to use another of mine in this year’s …. if you look on December 20th, here’s what you’ll see:

Santa Ornament

Santa Ornament

Pretty fun, huh? The Ravelry link (click the picture above) will take you to a pattern that has two Santa ornaments, or you could buy the calendar and get over 100 projects!

So … what are you knitting, crocheting, weaving, spinning or generally crafting? Post in the comments as I love to see what everyone else is up to …

off to sand and seal!

You have been busy! I need to get moving on organizing for school this year too. We already have a field trip planned, though I’m not looking forward to the 6 am start to get there on time.

    Love the blue!

Yep, Paula … it always seems so desirable and do-able to schedule a field trip for 0’dark:30 departure and home sometime late in the evening (to get the biggest bang for the buck) … and then the field trip looms and you being to re-think the whole thing …

    Thanks for stopping by …

    ENJOY!

THANK YOU, Cathie J … it was a surprise that was a bit needed on a day when I needed an “up”
