Fall Fiber Festival Fun … and some exciting brag-moment
chat with fiber-loving folks …
and generally have a sensation time while eating Kira’s Crepes and cider donuts at Carpe Donuts … btw, Carpe sells Frodos – an amazing flavor blend with an ice cream sandwich made with one of the cider donuts … WOW! [A great finish to the apple, bacon, cheddar crepe I’d had for lunch … just sayin’]
I spent all day Sunday down there … helping in Jane’s Spring Gate Farm booth … and demonstrating/offering knitting help in the afternoon at the demo tent. It’s great to see folks who I only see at this festival (this is my 4th year going … so I’m building some great annual friendships.
One portion of the FFF that is really cool is the Skein/Garment Competition. Clotho’s Handspinners, a handspinning guild from Richmond, coordinates this competition, a competition that gathers entries from all over the state of Virginia and even beyond.
I entered three items in the hand-knit (with commercial yarn) division.
Guess what? I won a ribbon (and vendor-donated prize) for each!
2nd place ribbon in the accessories category for my Kirsty’s Cap and Cuddly Booties (please click the picture for a link to KSC Designs, the donator of the prize)
1st place ribbon in the non-wearable category for my Colleen’s Cover

1st Place Ribbon – Handknit Non-wearable for Colleen’s Cover. Prize is a huge skein of handspun yarn in a lovely reddish-brown from Silverleaf Spinning (Louisa, VA)
and
1st Place and Best in Division for my cabled Nollag Seal (Christmas Shawl in Gaelic); please click on the picture to see what other gorgeous items Mad Maggie Farms has available.
