Yarn-along: knit-gifting and travels

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~ Ginny at small things

Yarn-along

Good morning … it’s only seven days till Christmas and I’m knitting feverishly to “get it all done” … not that I’ll come close, but it gives me a reason to take my knitting everywhere … including where the above picture was taken: on our recent jaunt down to Colonial Williamsburg and Great Wolf Lodge. These are hiking socks for my daughter … two-at-a-time, toe-up and just about done … that I worked on while the kids were at the water park. Occasionally, I got up and took a picture of them … or they would stop and check in every so often to ensure that I knew all was well.

We also went into Colonial Williamsburg to tour around and look at all the cool Christmas decorations …

oh … and those scarves I was working on: off the needles and on to the woman who ordered them … and posted as a purchasable pattern

so what are you knit-gifting … or reading … or not?

We went to Colonial Williamsburg on our honeymoon and I always thought it would look so beautiful all decorated for Christmas. Those socks look so nice and warm!

    Donna,

I went to Wm&Mary for grad school, so I’ve seen it at Christmas, but the kids never had. Too bad we didn’t have snow, though.

The socks are a superwash wool worsted-weight from Sweden; they make great hiking socks (or lounging around the house, being a couch potato!). I think she’ll really like them

    Have a wonderful Christmas!

Loving those socks! What great colors.
And ah, Williamsburg! Ran many a cross-country meet at W&M in high school. I’m from Roanoke. Love it there!
    Blessings and Merry Christmas!

    Kelli,

Small world – I almost worked at Norfolk Southern in their management trainees after grad school at Wm&Mary …

I love the sox, too … which is always sad when I love my knit-gifting gifts! Have a wonderful, blessed Christmas!

  6. Mary G says:

Thanks, Alisa … it’s Jarbo Garn’s “Raggi”, a worsted weight sock yarn. I’m making a pair of leg warmers in a Christmasy self-striping. It’s so soft …..

    Have a wonderful Christmas!
