Yarn-along: of socks and socks and more socks
~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~ Ginny at small things

Yarn-along – January 8, 2014
I’ve been on a sock-knitting binge ….
It started with making a Victorian Lace Christmas Stocking for a Ravelry swap partner
…
than I got some Jarbo Garn’s Raggi multi at my LYS and made a pair of toe-up hiking socks for my older daughter … and a pair of legwarmers for me … and a pair of top-down socks for my new boots (Santa is sooooo good to me!) … all compiled in my latest design: As You Like It!
…
then, being on a yarn-diet of sorts (I’m not supposed to buy new yarn until I work through much of my room-overtaking stash …), I decided to make a pair of toe-up socks from some Paton’s Stretch Sock yarn I had (it’s a lovely colorway called “Plum” with yellows and purples and pinks and just a touch of stretch).
…
then I got two really cool books from Amazon:
- Toe-up Socks for Every Body by Wendy Johnson (which is currently at a great price on Amazon!). I read it cover-to-cover the night it came … yes, it’s that good.
- Op-Art Socks by Stephanie Van Der Linden came yesterday. I’ve only had a chance to glance thru it and it is pure eye-candy for a sock-knitter! Gorgeous textured and colorwork designs that are optical illusions. Some of these would be awesome used on a sweater or jacket, too. Beautiful stuff. Hopefully, I’ll get to bed early enough tonight to read this one cover-to-cover.
Socks should be in my future for a while …
Oh, the Piecework magazine? Why is that in the picture? Well, if you grab a copy and look at page 46, you’ll find an article I wrote about the rise and fall of “Spencer Jackets”; if you then turn to page 48, you’ll find my Jane’s Kerseymere Spencer Jacket … cool, huh?
Due to the uber cold weather, we didn’t start school yesterday as planned … but we will start today (altho it is only 12 at 0745 … so we won’t be outside much!)
So what are you knitting and/or reading …. wanna come play?
Congratulations on being published!
Thanks Wanda … it’s always a kick to see your name in print. And I’m right proud of this one — it looks really cute on my daughter (I’m a bit passed a size 4!).
Enjoy.
