It’s pretty appropriate that my first post of 2014 is a yarn-along since one of my resolutions for 2014 is to be more organized with my postings … more regular to encourage regular readership … to show my knitting expertise as often as possible. I will be developing a regular “editorial calendar” of postings to include:

  1. Motivated Mondays — posts about the week ahead: designing schedule and planned submissions; homeschooling and cooking/baking ideas, etc. I REALLY need to be more organized! All these posts can be accessed thru the “plans & projects” tab above
  2. Tip Tuesday — posts about tips, tricks and techniques that will help my readers be better knitters. Let me know if you have specific questions you’d like answered. All these posts can be accessed thru the “tips & tricks” tab above
  3. Yarn-along Wednesdays — posts all about my knitting and reading. To find all these, click the “yarn-along” tab
  4. Discovery Thursdays — posts all about discoveries on the ‘net, including fiber-fun on Ravelry, interviews with knitterly folks, and reviews of books. To access these posts, please click “round the ‘net” tab above
  5. Friday’s Family Fun and Faith — posts about family doings in our homeschool, faith life, and other fun. Click “about” and then “family fun and faith” tabs above for these posts.
  6. Saturday Sum-up — posts that summarize the week’s info with links to posted designs, book reviews, and fibery fun. The “wrap-up” tab will get you to all those posts.

I’m hoping putting this in writing helps ME stay accountable this year … and adds to your reading enjoyment. Let me know if there is a topic you’d like to know about … a knitting stitch you don’t understand … a design issue … whatever.

Looking forward to this year’s weekly yarn-alongs and hope you’ll come play along too!

Entralac confuses the heck out of me. But I’d really like to know how you go about figuring out how much yarn a new design will need. I want to make my own shawls and things, but it always holds me back because I don’t know how much yarn I will need.

Paula … you got it … my first “help” next Tuesday will be how to estimate yarn needs, especially regarding shawls. It’s not a science, more an art, but I’m happy to share my expertise with you ….

    Hugs and happy 2014
