Yarn-along … of trips and travel knitting and Agatha Christie

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~ Ginny at small things

Yarn-along: April 30, 2014

It’s rainy and 48 and rainy … forecast to go to 72, with rain, later today. It’s a wet, wet, wet spring … but hey, it’s not snowing or freezing so it’s all good.

I missed last week’s Yarn-along as dh and I were on a trip all week and the last thing I was thinking about was posting to my blog. We had a great time … but, because we flew and I was nervous about TSA not allowing knitting on the plane (which they do … so I know for next time!), I brought a project that I could “lose” if necessary. That’s what you see to the left.

Knit with Bernat’s Mosaic, an acrylic that looks and feels like Noro’s Silk Garden, this is going to be a top-down poncho. I’m not sure if I like the “hand” of this one … but I do love the color shading. I’ll see what I think when it’s off the needles (it’s currently squished onto a 16-inch circ as that’s all I had with me). It’s a great project to work on “whenever” because it’s mindless …

In other knitting news: I’m putting the finishing touches on the publication design — cables take so long but are so worth it! That goes in this week and then I’ll be able to relax. I have a trade-show in Indy this weekend, so will bring knitting on-board and have a fun, fibery weekend.

I’ll also take my Kindle, loaded with Agatha Christie books: I just finished The Man in the Brown Suit (excellent!) and have started Crooked House, which is supposed to have been Christie’s favorite, and I can see why … yes, it’s that good.

So what are you reading and knitting … wanna come play?sig block

fun knit, like the colours… Spring can be so busy!!

Have you used the Mosaic before? I did a couple times and found it very pilly. But the colours are gorgeous. I always wonder about knitting needles on planes too (not that I fly). My BIL wants to take us places that require flying and I’ve made it clear I’m not flying, with Ella (she’s so busy) without my knitting 🙂

I’m going to be using that same yarn to weave a scarf in the next week or so. I love the color changes. Enjoy your trade show this weekend! Hope you have lots of fiber fun.

The yarn for that poncho is so pretty.
