~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Yarn-along: December 21st ... lots of knitting

Wow … what a knitting and crafting and baking week this has been! Christmas is in 4 days and I’m ready but keep adding more projects, ideas and “must make fors” to my list. Thank goodness I have my college daughter home and the “littles” are old enough to help out a bit.

On my needles, I’ve got a shop-model made from Cypress Mohair — 35% wool/65% acrylic and feels like knitting with butter. It’s amazingly sensual to knit with this stuff. Altho, I was getting a bit testy the other day and had to put it down because my stressed and sweaty hands were sticking a bit! But last night, calmly watching Kingdom on Netflix while all others were in bed … it was wonderful knitting once again. The design is a simple cable-braid scarf that is lovely and knit on 15s so it’s going together quickly. Off my needles and on the blocking board are two swatches for submission to a book … and off the needles, but on Duffy for photographing is one of those “must make fors” — Angel’s Wings cowl done in cashmere/silk/merino.

I’m also about 2 inches into a pair of toe-up sox using Berocco’s Comfort Sock that I’m knitting for myself — a project that often gets cast aside for “must have fors” knitting! I also finished, and posted, my The Fab Four: Fun and Funky Santas design.

We’ve put school on hold this week so no read-alouds … too busy baking Christmas treats for folks and crafting ornaments/gifts to go with as well as fun outings … including a trip to downtown F’burg last Friday to check out a new yarn shop, visit the galleries at Liberty Town with time to spare to pick up their big sister at the train station (much easier to have her fly in, take the train down and have us pick her up there!).

And, when I have a few moments to read … I’ve picked up The Pope and the CEO: John Paul II’s Leadership Lessons to a Young Swiss Guard … which is proving a fascinating book written by a former Swiss Guard and entrepreneur who learned much while protecting Bl. John Paul the Great. This would be a great text for Catholic high schoolers (or above) studying business.

So …. what’s on your needles and reading table? Won’t you come play with us over at Ginny’s small things?
