Yarn-along: gift-knitting … and Downton … and Kindle-reading
~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~ Ginny at small things

Yarn-along: December 11, 2013
On the knitting needles: gift-knitting — finished the teal scarf I started last week .. as well as another ascot-style scarf (this one is cabled) and a long version (72 inches worth) of my Wall Street Scarf pattern. All of these are cashmere or cashmere blend … so it could be a lot worse (I refuse to knit with yucky, tho popular, ruffly yarn!). I forgot to include in the picture a third ascot scarf (in purple) on which I’m currently working. Whew!
ETA: 12/13/13 — Just posted An Assortment of Ascots, a 4-fer pattern!
On the reading table: The World of Downton Abbey and The Chronicles of Downton Abbey … research for some designs inspired by the Downton Abbey time period. These two books, written by the wife of the main writer for the series, are fabulous if you want to know more about the show, the actors, the costumes, the setting, the era! These are perfect for inspiration and I’ve got about half-a-dozen sketches of possible designs. FUN! While knitting, I’ve been re-watching seasons 1-3 of the show (the UK versions) and really getting steeped in the era. Such gorgeous styles … elegant and feminine, yet highly wearable even today.
At night, I’m using my Kindle Fire to read The Ultimate Guide to Pinterest for Business. I bought it for my Kindle Fire (and saved $5.00!) because then I can read in bed WITHOUT my darn reading glasses! I can also highlight and bookmark without making the hard-copy all dog-eared and messy. Love the Kindle Fire!
So what are you knitting and reading … wanna come play?
