Here are the books I recommend for new knitters or those who have learned but need to know how to do …
- Kids Knitting by Melanie Falick is one I recommend for adults, too as there are some great projects, clear directions and just a great overall resource.
- Fearless Knitting Workshop by Jennifer Seiffert gives great projects that build on each other so your skills advance. Nice clear illustrations with detailed (but understandable) directions and a spiral binding that lays flat.
- Knitting Know-How by Judith Durant and Dorothy Ratigan is packed with lots of wonderful information in a clean, concise way with excellent projects for practicing the techniques. This is the one we recommend in my LYS.
- Knit Simple Knitting Workshops by the Editors of KnitSimple magazine gives skill-growth projects to keep you advancing. The only down side is that this book does not lay flat for easy use. I’ve rebound mine with a spiral at the print shop.
There are also tons of YouTube videos that will walk you thru casting-on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch and everything imaginable.
So what’s you excuse for not learning to knit this year????
