I recently received the CD The Chaplet of Divine Mercy in Song to review. This CD, produced by singer Trish Short, is a beautiful reminder of God’s great mercy … a mercy that is stronger than any sin we may commit. With only three “songs” on the CD, this powerful, glorious tribute will have you on your knees singing and praying along.
The first song, I Am a Voice, speaks of all of us … in all walks of life, from a child to a dying person … asking and, more importantly receiving, God’s great mercy. The second, I Will Forgive, brings us to forgive others, as well as ourselves, for what has happened; it asks for us to “surrender to the strength of God alone”. The final “song” is the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the prayer Jesus gave to St. Faustina Kowalska in a small convent in Poland, the prayer that reminds us all just how great is God’s merciful heart.
I don’t tend to like modern Christian music … but this one I really liked. The music is lovingly soothing and engenders reflection and meditation. The words of the first two songs are provocative while the Chaplet is the crowning glory of the CD. The leaflet included in the CD contains the words of each song, with a bit of write-up about the origins of the Chaplet. Further, there is a bit about extending God’s mercy to all through different ministries and evangelization.
I highly recommend this CD for playing in the house, in the van or in the classroom. My kids really enjoy listening to it and when we go to daily pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00pm or during the Chaplet’s novena (Good Friday to Divine Mercy Sunday), we will be getting this beautiful CD out to help us focus and reflect.
