This summer, I’ve really been enjoying lace knitting, creating airy, ethereal fabrics with well-placed k2tog, ssk’s and YOs. Some of my recent designs include:

  • Roisin’s Garden Shawl — a 60″ x 16″ shawlette

  • My Wild Irish Rose lace poncho

  • The Rose of Tralee scarf

  • and

    Sunburst Spectacular Shawl

  • And another that I just completed, Sorcha’s Shawl, is a heavier, but still airy (and cool) poncho knit with a worsted blend of cotton, silk and rayon …

    Sorcha’s Shawl

Lace knitting is really fun … and not that hard once you know some tricks, tips and techniques! I’ve started a series over at Dog House Yarn’s blog on lace knitting. Part 2, which I’ll post this week, will start giving you some of the lace-knitting basics so you’ll be on your way to creating beautiful knitted lace!
