I wrote a couple of blog posts recently over at DHY’s blog on lace knitting (including resources and basic tips/techniques). I thought I’d share with you my latest design:

Sunset Over the Mesa shawl — 375 yards of fingering-weight lace beauty

oh, and I’ve included this photo since I’m actually SMILING in it!

Sunset Mesa shawl … makes me smile!

The Sunset Over the Mesa shawl knits up quickly on US#8 circs (all in the round … gotta love it!) and uses about 375 yards of fingering weight yarn. The sample is Seacoast Handpainted’s Superwash Sock in “Cowboy” (which we sell at DHY). The blues and creams and browns of this yarn are reminiscent of the sun setting over the Anasazi’s cave-dwellings at Mesa Verde (CO). A few years ago we camped down there … and this shawl is a salute to the lovely memories: with the Ancient Pueblans’ cave openings scattered around the Mesa, the layers of the exposed earth showing their lovely, natural colors, and the sun setting over it all. GORGEOUS! This shawl is knit in the round from the neck opening, utilizing three different lace stitch patterns which will broaden your lace-knitting skills. A fun knit … a gorgeous shawl … and memories of an amazing family-camping trip.

If you’d like to knit your own … the pattern is available for immediate download on Ravelry or Craftsy.
