Field Trip: State Fair of Virginia
Our state fair is a great state fair … don’t miss it, don’t even be late.
It’s dollars to donuts that our state fair is the best state fair in our state!
Today we spent the day down at Doswell (birthplace of Secretariat and home of Kings Dominion)for the State Fair of Virginia! This was the first year we planned on going — and almost didn’t as the kids were sick earlier this week. But God was good: we had gorgeous 75-degree weather, the kids felt better and the fair was a boot.
We went primarily to see Spring Gate Farm’s performance at the cashmere goat show. Jane McKinney, cashmere-goat breeder extraordinaire (and a dear friend) welcomed us and showed us around. Her goats always do extremely well at the State Fair … usually bringing home many ribbons. Jane also got a blue ribbon for “cashmere herdsman” and “grand champion” for a doe’s fleece. This is a big deal for a breeder and we’re so proud of Jane and her goats. [Besides which, I love designing and working with her amazing cashmere fiber!]
Here’s our day in a nutshell:
So, when was the last time you went to the State Fair? What are you waiting for … education, family fun and amazing food are waiting for you and yours …
