~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~ Ginny at small things

Good morning!

Sagas: Our family read-aloud is still going strong (which usually doesn’t happen this time of year when the outdoors beckons … but we’ve had RAIN and it’s been nice to be indoors reading). We finished The Brotherband Chronicles: Book 1 on Wednesday and immediately ran and got Book 2 to continue the saga. These are so well-written and the women-folk enjoy them as much as the men! Flanagan is a great story-teller with a unique sense of place and character.

Ceremonies: We spent much of this week on the road — driving down to Kotch’s graduation from Ave Maria University. It was a long haul (almost 2000 miles round trip) from Thursday afternoon to Monday morning, but it was so worth it. On our way back, we stopped at St. Augustine Beach to let the kids revel in the storm-churned ocean on a balmy, post-storm Sunday afternoon.

Shawls: With all that driving that dh did, I was able to get a bit of knitting done. I started (and finished) Summer in the Vineyard (done in Wolle’s Yarn Creations, colorway “afternoon”). This color-changing cotton is such fun to knit and blocks out beautifully! I have to finish writing and proofing the pattern and then will posted this gorgeous design on Ravelry and my Craftsy store.
Hugs 'n' Kisses shawl ... a great start for this one

Hugs ‘n’ Kisses shawl … progress on the road-trip

I also got a great jump-start on my Hugs ‘n’ Kisses shawl (done in Solitude Wool’s dorset-suffolk blend) … and thanks to the boys’ being in TaeKwonDo, I was able to knit a bit more on it last night. This yarn is wonderfully “skushy” and soft … I may need to get some more from the wonderful ladies up at Solitude!

So what’s on your book stand and needles? Wanna come play with us …
