As promised, I have my July entry in the Brigid Collection a tad earlier than June’s:

Roisin’s Garden Shawl — a 60″ x 16″ shawlette

Isn’t it lovely? And it’s just as much fun to knit as it is to wear … there are three rose-inspired sections of lace: rosebuds that are short-rowed (to give the shawlette a slight crescent shape), then roses growing on lattice (which incorporates cable twists to make the lattice) and then ending with an original (unvented) rose-leaf fringed border.

The sample used 2 skeins of Cascade’s Ultra Pima in a fabulous wine-red, but about 440 yards of any DK would work for this design. If using a wool, you’ll get a slightly larger shawlette since wool blocks much better than cotton — but it’s summer and I didn’t want a wool shawl!

The pattern is immediately downloadable from either my Ravelry shop or my Craftsy pattern-page.

What do you think? For other Celtic-inspired designs, please see The Brigid Collection page!
