Here’s the design for March … a bit earlier in case you’d like to create this beauty in time for St. Patrick’s Day 2012!

Brede's Emerald Isle Poncho

The hardest part of this poncho was getting the shamrock-lace to look right. I tried many iterations of a lace shamrock — both on the computer (using Stitch Mastery’s amazing Knitting Chart software) and on the needles… many, many iterations! The final result, I believe, makes for quite a striking lace motif. The yarn is Hazel Knits’ Artisan Sock (a hand-painted tonal in a gorgeous shade of green called “Shanny Pants”) … 90% superwash merino/10% nylon and requires one skein (approx 400 yards).

What do you think?
