This morning, our oldest-at-home son became fully initiated into the Roman Catholic Church with his reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation.

This is a big deal. A big, big deal.

Such a big deal that his cousin (and my godson) came out from Chicago to sponsor him, to witness to his ontological change from the graces bestowed with acceptance of this Sacrament. As Archbishop Broglio, Archbishop of the Military, mentioned in his homily, (My paraphrasing):

Hambone, Archbishop Broglio, and a superlative sponsor

this gift will be given to all the Confirmandi today … what you do with it will be different for each one of you. But remember, every gift given is meant to be given to others. The sweet smell of the Chrism oil signifies that you must sweeten the lives around you … that you must carry this through your lives.

Congratulations to the 58 Confirmandi … and prayers that you will remember this day, and Archbishop Broglio’s words, throughout your entire lives …..

The Confirmandi of 2012

… and Hambone … you can bet we’re proud of him!

We’re proud of you sweetie!
