Good morning … today is slated to get to the 90s (gotta love springtime in Virginia) so I thought it would be a good day to post my latest design:

Gorgeous Gala shawlette

Gorgeous Gala shawlette

I designed and knit the original of this design for the annual Gala at our school. Many of my colleagues, students and their parents are fascinated by my knitting work and this shawlette was a big hit (and raised a nice donation) for the school. Done in heavy fingering weight 100% cotton for a cozy but cool spring/summer cover, this shawlette (whose gradient is created by the yarn) knits up quickly on US#6 needles and used about 400 yards of the skein. I used Wolle’s Color-changing Cotton in “Triple Greens”. The shawl starts out with a garter tab which is then turned on its side and increases from the neck to the scalloped hem. Circular needles are used for the immense number of sts (when you’re done you’ll have 343 sts to bind off)!

The directions are given both charted and row-by-row and the design is ready for immediate download from Ravelry, Craftsy and (for you Europeans) Love Knitting.

Enjoy!
